Avodah Leadership: When Purpose Shapes Culture

In today’s fast-paced business world, leadership often gets reduced to performance metrics, margins, and growth. But what if true leadership isn’t just about what we do, but why and how we do it?

After years in the heavy equipment industry—years filled with success, failure, growth, loss, and redemption—I’ve come to understand leadership through a different lens. One rooted not just in performance, but in purpose.

There’s a word that changed how I see everything: AVODAH.
In Hebrew, avodah means work. But it also means worship. And service.

In the language of the Old Testament, there was no division between what happened at the altar and what happened in the fields. The same word described both, because to God, they were one and the same.

Every task, every relationship, every decision, whether “sacred” or “ordinary”, was an opportunity to honor Him.

That truth changed how I approach business.
Because if all work is worship, then how we lead, how we serve, and how we treat others becomes an act of faith.

Not just profit-driven.
Not just transactional.
But purpose-driven.

At CorePartsDirect, we carry that belief into everything we do.

I don’t see what we do, sourcing OEM surplus, rebuilt, and used heavy equipment parts, as just commerce. I see it as service. Every transaction, every relationship, every solution we provide to help our clients reduce downtime or meet a critical need, that’s worship when done with integrity, compassion, and excellence.

True Leadership is Servanthood

At CorePartsDirect, we’re not trying to be the biggest. We’re not here to win with flashy marketing or cutthroat pricing. We’re here to serve our customers, our suppliers, and our partners with humility and transparency.

Leadership for me is about:

  • Showing up with integrity, especially when no one’s watching.

  • Putting long-term relationships over short-term wins.

  • Offering honest answers, even if it means saying “we can’t help with this one.

  • Treating every customer like they matter, because they do.

This isn’t idealism. It’s conviction.

From Loss to Calling

After stepping away from this industry years ago, I spent a long time searching. I tried other ventures. Some worked, some didn’t. But something was always missing.

When I came back, it wasn’t just to do business again. It was to build something with soul. Something rooted in the belief that what we do every day, if done right, can be an act of worship to God and an expression of service to others.

That’s the heart of avodah leadership.

Work. Worship. Service. All in one.

If you're a leader, whether in construction, mining, logistics, or any other industry, I challenge you to rethink what leadership means for you. Not just as a role, but as a calling.

At CorePartsDirect, we’re building more than a parts business. We’re building a culture, because real leadership isn't about the spotlight, it's about the people we serve, and this journey starts at home!
